Hope of America Award

It is our goal to challenge youths to excel in school and to dedicate themselves to strengthening their character and leadership skills.  With this in mind, each year we present an award, called the Hope of America award, to students in our local schools (Century Elementary, Discovery Elementary, Golden Spike Elementary, Lake View Elementary, Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning, and Three Mile Creek Elementary).  The Hope of America award recognizes and encourages students who have demonstrated academic accomplishments, leadership and good character.  These students should be potential leaders who have sustained our democratic way of life and exhibited outstanding citizenship traits.

Criteria for selection of a recipient include:

  • Capacity for leadership (self-discipline)
  • Ethical and moral character
  • Academic competency (general studies)
  • And a willingness to serve others.

The Kiwanis motto is “We Build Bridges for Children to the Future.”  Our club honors one boy and one girl from each of our area six elementary school’s fifth grade who show forth the above character traits in school activities and service and are willing to join with us and help Build Bridges for a Bright Future for All.

The Hope of America Awards are usually awarded during each school’s end of school award assembly.
